Unhealthy Lifestyles Reason or Outcome of Poor Teen Health?

It seems like a catch 22 situation -- whether unhealthy lifestyles are the reason or the outcome of bad teen heath.
The health experts are still figuring out whether teens that have unhealthy habits are more prone to migraines and other types of headaches; or is it that frequent headaches press the teens to resort to unhealthy things like spending more time watching TV or smoking.
To solve the dilemma faced and come up with concrete answers, a team of Norwegian researchers conducted a study and post the analysis of the data, they concluded that being overweight, lack of regular exercise, and smoking were the primary reason, which were linked to having moreheadaches in the teens.
In the study, the researchers observed as many as 5,847 Norwegian teenagers, who were in the age bracket of 13- to 18-year-old. All these teens besides being weighed and measured, also spent an hour and answered numerous questions related to health.
Following the analysis, it was found that smoking was related to an 80% increase in migraines, followed by 60% relation between being overweight and migraines. Further, the lack of regular exercise contributed to 50% increase in migraines. On the whole, all the three factors when consolidated aggravated tensionheadaches and other headaches.
The study, published online in the journal Neurology, also claimed that the more unhealthy the lifestyle of a teen the more the possibility of the headaches.
Though, the study can be termed as a comprehensive one, the elementary question whether recurrent headaches were a reason or the outcome of an unhealthy lifestyle was still not clear.
